Ralph S. Hagelbarger 1938-2025

Ralph was born May 4, 1938, the son of the late Ralph and Alberta Shipley Hagelbarger.

A 1956 graduate of Cuyahoga High School, Ralph went on to serve proudly in the United States Navy. A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, he served his country for five years with honor and dedication.

Following his military service, Ralph built a long and successful career as a mechanical engineer with General Motors / Packard Electric, retiring in 1990 after 25 years of service.

He was a devoted member of Canfield Presbyterian Church, where he sang in the choir and served as a deacon.

Ralph had a lifelong love of golf and cherished the winters he spent in Naples, Florida, with his wife for over 30 years. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and especially enjoyed being with his grandchildren.

Ralph met the love of his life, the former Nancy A. Axelson, at an Army-Navy football game. They were married Feb. 13, 1961, and shared 63 wonderful years together until her passing on May 21, 2024.

Ralph is survived by his son, Jeffrey (Michele) Hagelbarger of Reading, Pa.; his daughter, Kristy (Adam) LaCarrubba of San Francisco, California; and seven beloved grandchildren, Sam, Simon, Sophia, Samantha, Jack, Matthew and Olivia.

In addition to his parents and wife, Ralph was preceded in death by his daughter, Rebecca Sly; and his cherished dog, Britta.

Private services will be held for the family.
