Nancy K. Holmes 1945-2025

CANFIELD — Nancy Katherine Holmes, age 80, passed away peacefully Friday, May 16, 2025, at Aventura at Humility House.
She was born Jan. 1, 1945, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late William and Katherine Klein Turney.
Nancy was a graduate of Austintown Fitch High School, after which she pursued a career as a loan officer at Bank One, and later as a flower arranger at the Flower Mill.
Her talented seasonal decorating and flower arranging skills were apparent at all major holidays, where she transformed her home into a stunning display of the season.
For 30 years, Nancy called Florida her home, residing in Fort Myers. She was an active member of the local shell society, participating in their ventures of shell collection. Nancy’s love for the beach was evident in her extensive personal shell collection, having spent countless hours with friends and family in the “Sanibel stoop” searching for another prized shell. Nancy also had a profound love for flowers; in Ohio she grew her prized roses and iris, and later orchids in Florida. She had an amazing green thumb, getting any plant to thrive.
She also enjoyed traveling the country with her lifelong childhood friend and partner in crime, Kay Wertman. They shared a rare bond that spanned over 70 years.
But Nancy was never happier than in her role as a grandmother; her grandchildren were the greatest joy of her life. She was thrilled to be asked to help care for them after birth and having them visit her in Florida, and taking countless day trips to the beach.
Nancy is survived by her daughter, Lisa McNally of Fort Myers, Florida; sons, Michael (Kimberly) McNally of Bowling Green, Kentucky, and David (Connie) McNally of Boardman; grandchildren, Megan, Michael E. and David Jr. (DJ) McNally; and brothers, William E. “Bill” Turney Jr. of Youngstown and Tom (Jan) Turney of Youngstown.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her sister, Sue Connor.
