Marlene Jurek 1956-2025

STRUTHERS — Marlene Jurek passed away peacefully, Sunday, May 18, 2025, at the age of 68, surrounded by her loved ones.
Born Dec. 30, 1956, in Youngstown, the daughter of the late Martin and Helen Blasko Kovalan, she was a lifelong area resident.
She lived her life with a spirit of creativity and compassion that has touched many.
Marlene married the love of her life Ted; they have been married for 40 years and have resided in Struthers.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and her grand dogs, and cherished her role as Mimi to her granddaughter.
Marlene was passionate about flowers, crafts, sports, cooking and gardening.
She was kind, selfless and had the biggest heart in the world. Would do anything for the ones she loved.
Marlene volunteered many years baking Brier Hill pizza at St. Anthony’s. She never missed an opportunity to help others and give of her time.
She always enjoyed a good adventure. She and Ted frequently traveled to their beach home in Florida where they would walk the beach, enjoy great food, spend time with friends and meet new people.
Marlene leaves to cherish her memory, husband Ted Jurek; her son Teddy (Jackie) Jurek Jr.; daughter Martina (Nick) DiNello; granddaughter Evalina and a grandchild on the way in August; and her brother, Theodore (Judy) Kovalan.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at the Fox Funeral Home in Boardman, followed by a funeral service at 6 p.m., officiated by Pastor Reid Lamport.
A burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, May 23, at Poland Riverside Cemetery.
The family request material tributes be given in Marlene’s name to Angels for Animals, 4750 W. South Range Road, Canfield, Ohio 44406.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Edward J. Fox & Sons Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman.
