Margaret J. Bennett 1933-2025
ALBEMARLE, N.C. — Margaret J. Bennett, 91 of Albemarle, North Carolina, formerly of Hubbard, passed away peacefully, Monday, March 17, 2025, at Trinity Place.
Margaret was born Nov. 30, 1933, in Youngstown, a daughter of Henry M. and Annette E. Burris Dodson.
She graduated from McDonald High School and later attended Youngstown State University.
For over 20 years Margaret was a secretary in the Industrial Relations and Benefit Administrators Department at Valley-Volcan Mold Company in Hubbard.
She was a member of Churchill United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, Phi Mu fraternity and the Red Hat Society. She also was a Girl Scout leader for Hubbard troops 180 and 660.
Margaret and her husband enjoyed traveling across the United States and going on cruises. She wrote poetry, enjoyed reading, going to the theater, quilting and tole painting. But most of all, she absolutely loved being a grandmother.
Her husband, J. Frederick Bennett, whom she married Oct. 10, 1953, passed away Sept. 2, 2016.
She will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her family: her children, Deborah J. Bennett of New London, North Carolina, Dianna J. (Robert) Thompson of Ellijay, Georgia, and Jay F. Bennett of Russellville, Tennessee; and two grandchildren, Miranda (Billy) Krager and Ellen Bennett.
Beside her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; her sons, infant Frederick J. Bennett and James D. Bennett; sister, Wilma “Peg” Wilkes; and brother, Isaac “Duke” Dodson.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 202,5 with calling hours 1 to 2 p.m., at Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home.
Margaret will be laid to rest in Lake Park Cemetery in Youngstown.
