John McCormick 1947-2025

STRUTHERS — John McCormick, 78, died peacefully, in his sleep, early Sunday, May 11, 2025, at Liberty Health Care Center.
John was born Jan. 17, 1947, to Joe and Edith Pyle McCormick.
After graduating from Springfield High School in 1965, John served in the U.S. Army, and later worked in skilled trades as a blacksmith, a mechanic, and a heating and cooling technician.
John was a wonderful husband, fantastic father and a loving “Pa” to his granddaughters. A quiet but joyful man, John had a wry sense of humor and a penchant for being a little ornery.
He enjoyed fixing things, spending time in his garage, fishing, hiking and helping with community projects. After years of riding his motorcycle, he also developed a passion for bicycling and was a proud member of The Outspokin’ Wheelmen. He loved going to local shows and was quite serious about finding a good fish dinner.
John lived a good life and people loved him. He sincerely appreciated all the doctors, nurses and medical staff who were with him for his lengthy battle with cancer, especially at The Hope Center in Boardman and Liberty Arms Assisted Living.
John will be remembered by his son, Dan (Sara) McCormick of Youngstown; his beloved granddaughters, Lauren, Fiona, Alice and Rosie; longtime dear friend, Sandra James of Boardman; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and numerous good friends.
Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Marapese McCormick; son Joe; brother, Chuck; and sister, Lou.
The family will receive relatives and friends 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave., Boardman.
