Edward J. Donegan 1938-2025

LARGO, Fla. — Edward J. Donegan, 87, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 29, 2025.

Edward was born in Mineral Ridge to J. Bernard Donegan and Letitia Wagner Donegan on Jan. 7, 1938.

He graduated from Mineral Ridge High School and went on to join the United States Marine Corps. During his time in the service, he was an air traffic controller and the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal. He later went on to receive his pilot’s license and owned his own plane. Ed took great pride in being a Marine and loved sharing his stories about his time in the service right up until his passing.

On Aug. 19, 1961, Edward was united in marriage to Priscilla Ann McConnell in Mineral Ridge. They made their home in Liberty Township before becoming “snowbirds,” spending part of the year in Florida, until eventually making Largo their permanent residence. Papa D., as he was referred to by many, loved crossword puzzles, playing trivia and drinking his Coors Light.

Edward is survived by his daughter, Terri, and husband, David; his son, William “Bill,” and wife, Nancy; and his four adored grandchildren, Christian and Davis Hall, and Connor and Carter Donegan. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law, Sallie Potter, and her husband, Tom.

Ed was preceded in death by his loving wife, Priscilla, to whom he was married to for 63 years; his parents; his brother, Bill; and his sister, Dorothy.

A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.

The family would like to thank Suncoast Hospice for its loving care.

Memorial donations for Ed and Priscilla may be made to Shots for Tots, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Youngstown. Shots for Tots provides bicycles for children in need through the Marines’ Toys for Tots Program. This charity was very close to The Donegan’s heart, and they loved attending their events. Donations can be made to Shots for Tots, 408 Mansell Drive, Youngstown, OH 44505. Contact Terri Hall for more information.
