Daniel K. Watt 1963-2025

POLAND — Daniel Keith Watt, 61, born May 14, 1963, in Salem, passed away peacefully, Monday, April 28, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital. He is the son of Frederick George Watt and Lois Mae Metts Watt Ellison.

Dan graduated from South Range High School in 1981. He worked at Brentwood Originals for several years before moving on to other places, including Cresson Diesel in Cresson, Pa., and Solomon’s Mines in Salem.

Dan loved the outdoors, and he loved to fish. He and his best buddy, Harley, a Blue Heeler breed, went everywhere together, with Harley getting his fair share of Dairy Queen ice cream. If Harley wasn’t welcome, they didn’t go. When Harley passed away five years ago, Dan made a mahogany casket for him.

Preceding Dan in death are his father, Frederick G. Watt; his maternal grandparents, Oliver Dale Sr. and Catherine Jane Dixon Metts; his paternal grandparents, Frederick Joseph and Catherine Myrtle Betrum Watt and stepgrandmother, Alma Blackstone Watt; his uncles, Vernon Anthony Metts, Oliver Dale Metts Jr., Paul Duane Metts, William, James, Herman, Robert, Donald, David and Richard Watt; his aunts, Thelma Kathleen Metts Ashbaugh (Richard), Kathy Watt Wisilosky and Florence Ehrhart; and many cousins.

Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Lois Mae Ellison of Boardman; his sisters, Diane L. Watt and Donna M. Hostutler Calvey (John), both of Boardman; his many aunts and uncles, including Robert Dale Metts, Kathie and Kenneth Watt, Gloria Watt, Betty and Ray Murray, John and Edna Watt, Dorothy and Stephen Draper, Cindy Watt, Elenore Watt, Sheryl Watt and Lu-Ann Watt; his nephew, Daniel A. Watt; and his niece, Lisa Campbell (Robert).

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 2025, at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 935 E. State St., Salem, OH 44460. All who knew and loved Dan are welcome to attend and celebrate his amazing life. Following the service, a social gathering will be held in the St. Paul church hall.

Dan will be laid to rest beside his dad in Grandview Cemetery in Salem.
