Charles T. White 1958-2025

POLAND — Charles T. White passed away Thursday, May 1, 2025, at UPMC hospital, surrounded by his family. He courageously and quietly battled a rare cancer for the past 11 months.
Chuck was born Dec. 2, 1958, in Pittsburgh, Pa., son of Charles and Mary Lou White.
He graduated from Pittsburgh’s Central Catholic High School in 1977, where he was a standout basketball player. He continued his education at the University of Pittsburgh, graduated with a degree in industrial engineering, and subsequently later with an MBA.
Chuck started his career at U.S. Steel and then went on to work for Roadway Package System, which was later purchased by FedEx. He was employed for 37 years and was a managing director of Field Pickup and Delivery Engineering. He retired in June 2024, shortly after learning of his diagnosis.
Chuck was fiercely but quietly competitive and especially enjoyed all sports including local sports and all things Pittsburgh. He was honored in 1993 for coaching numerous youth teams by St. Rosalia’s Athletic Association and later recognized by the YMCA basketball director for coaching 17 straight years.
Chuck coached and mentored many Poland boys’ teams in basketball, baseball and soccer, and won many championships throughout the years alongside his three sons.
He always strived for excellence and spent countless hours at practice and games, etc. — always teaching and sharing his sports knowledge with the players. Chuck always believed in hard work, fairness and had the utmost integrity in everything he accomplished in life.
In May 1992, he married Judy Vogt in York, Pa., and shortly thereafter was transferred to the Pittsburgh FedEx Ground Corporate Office from Harrisburg, Pa. Chuck was a wonderful and devoted husband, father and friend to all.
Besides golfing, he enjoyed traveling, especially internationally with friends, and especially on annual family vacations.
Chuck will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Judy of Poland; and sons, Brian and Kevin of Columbiana, and Eric of Tampa, Florida. He leaves two sisters, Colleen (Hughie) Spafford of Ocean View, Delaware, and Chrissy (Jeff) King of Scottsdale, Arizona; and brother, Carey (Kristy) White of Pittsburgh, Pa.
He also leaves behind sister-in-law, Cindi White of Annapolis, Maryland; brother-in-law, Rick (Mary Anne) Vogt of Hudson; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and younger brother, Craig.
The family will receive relatives and friends 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2025, at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home in Poland, and 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Prince of Peace Church in Poland.
A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
