Anthony M. ‘Tony’ Fusco 1960-2025

YOUNGSTOWN — Anthony M. “Tony” Fusco, 64, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully in his sleep, Saturday, May 3, 2025, at his home after visiting his mother Friday evening.

Tony was born July 9, 1960, in Youngstown, a son of Anthony “Tony” Fusco and Helen Kaplach Fusco.

A 1978 graduate of Chaney High School, Tony was a dedicated and hardworking man who spent his career in construction and landscaping. He owned his own roofing business, worked for Trumbull General Contracting alongside his cousin Greg Trumbull for 15 years, and spent nearly 30 years with Fusco’s Cutting Edge Landscaping, where he worked with his brother, Ken, and close friend, Robert “Punchy” Sheen. He took great pride in his craftsmanship and work ethic.

In his youth, Tony was an avid athlete who enjoyed playing football and baseball. His love for the game continued into adulthood as a member of several local baseball leagues. He often reminisced about growing up running the neighborhood with his siblings and cousins, getting into a little mischief along the way.

Family was Tony’s most cherished possession. He was a devoted father and “Papa,” whose children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. He enjoyed shooting hoops with Tony and AJ, spending quality time with Jessie and her kids, and sharing his birthdays with Jamie, which were often celebrated over the Fourth of July weekend with “his circle,” as he fondly called his closest group of loved ones.

Though he liked to project a tough exterior, those who knew Tony best recognized his generous spirit and kind heart. He was known to give freely, even when he had little, and always put others before himself. He was a simple man who valued relationships over material things and whose larger-than-life personality left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Outside of work and family, Tony was a lifelong sports fan and a dedicated talker — despite claiming otherwise. He enjoyed long phone conversations with his sister and other family members, always staying connected.

Tony is survived by his three children, Tony Fusco of Youngstown, Jessica (Justin) Edwards of Boardman and Jamie Fusco of Boardman; four grandchildren, AJ, Haley, Justin “Bubba” and Riley; his mother, Helen Fusco of Youngstown; his former wife, mother of his children and friend, Linda Wilson of Youngstown; his siblings, Michelle Kozar of Youngstown, Debbie (Rick) Nittoli of Mineral Ridge and Kenny (Diane) Fusco of Greenford Township; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his father, Anthony “Tony” Fusco.

Family and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of Tony’s life 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2025, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown. A service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Casual attire, including baseball caps, is encouraged in honor of Tony’s laid-back spirit.

In lieu of flowers, Tony’s family suggests memorial contributions be made to the funeral home to assist with final expenses.
