Ruth E. Smith 1930-2025

Ruth was born Sept. 7, 1930, in Indianapolis, Indiana, a daughter of Harry and Violet Miller Smeltzer.

She was a 1948 graduate of East High School.

Ruth enjoyed bowling, shopping and gambling, and loved antiques, going to dinner at the Royal Grill Buffet and watching “Gunsmoke” on TV. Most of all, she loved spending time with her daughters; son-in-law; grandson, Domenic, and his wife; and great-grandchildren.

She attended The Sisters of Antonine Adult Day Care and was especially fond of her caregivers, Linda and Jeri from Comfort Keepers.

Her husband, John R. Smith whom she married Dec. 17, 1949, passed away Dec. 15, 2007.

Ruth will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her family: her daughters, Sandra M. (Robert F.) Connolly of North Jackson and Deborah J. Grilli (Vincent Santangelo) of Hubbard; her grandson, Domenic (Marissa) Grilli; and great-grandchildren, Zoey and Emry.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband.

There will be calling hours 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 1, 2025, at the funeral home, with calling hours 10 to 11 a.m.

Ruth will be laid to rest in Green Haven Memorial Gardens in Canfield.
