Louis S. Texter

Together again

CAMPBELL – Louis Stephen Texter passed away peacefully Sunday, April 20, 2025, at Hospice House in Poland.

Louis was born Sept. 15, 1935, in Campbell, a son of Gaza J. and Christina Lisko Texter.

He was a 1953 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School.

Louis joined the U.S. Marine Corps on Aug. 12, 1953, and served until Aug. 11, 1956.

Louis married the former Florence Tarr on May 23, 1959. They were married until her passing on May 23, 2014.

Louis retired from Borden Dairy and also worked for Youngstown Sheet and Tube and Republic Rubber.

Louis was of the Catholic faith and a member of St. Joseph the Provider until its closing. He then joined Christ the Good Shepherd Parish.

He was a member of American Legion Post 560.

Louis was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Whenever you needed something, he was always there, no matter what. His great-grandson was his best friend.

Louis will be deeply missed and always remembered by his grandson and great-grandson, Samuel Horvath Sr. and Samuel Horvath Jr., both of Campbell.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Florence; his daughter, Christine Texter; and his son, Kevin Texter.

The Texter family has entrusted Louis’ care to the Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell.

Calling hours will be 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 25, 2025, at the funeral home, followed by a funeral service at 10:30 a.m., celebrated by the Rev. Thomas Kraszewski.

Louis will be laid to rest in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Cemetery.
