Daniel W. McCauley 1942-2025

YOUNGSTOWN — Daniel W. McCauley, 82, passed away in the early evening on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Austintown Healthcare Center.
Danny was born Wednesday, July 8, 1942, in Youngstown and was the first born to William D. and Terese G. Ferreri McCauley.
He was a 1960 graduate of Ursuline High School, attended John Carroll University and graduated from Youngstown State University. He was also a graduate of the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science and was a licensed funeral director and embalmer for a few years. He continued to further his education by attending Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., where he received his Master of Social Work degree.
Danny was employed by Board 648 for many years and was a part-time professor at Youngstown State University with Dr. Joseph Edwards, a class that students enjoyed. Dan also was an antique dealer, collector and appraiser.
Florida International University hired Danny to develop and implement social work programs.
He was a world traveler but always loved returning home to support Ursuline High School and the YSU Penguins, as his love for the Penguins was so intense he painted all the red reserved chairs in the football stadium. He always looked forward to his breakfasts at the Golden Dawn restaurant.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his siblings, Joanne (Doug) Collier of Medford, New Jersey, and Paul M. (JoAnne) McCauley of Youngstown; nieces and nephew, Dana Lantz (Michael Lambert) of Youngstown, Josa (Justin) Muir of Boardman, Molly (Matt) Simms of Westfield, New Jersey, Melissa (Steve) Alvater of Haddonfield, New Jersey, Meredith (Eli) Puckett of Blacklick and Matthew McCauley of Grandview; great-nieces and great-nephews, Luke Lantz, Chase, Charlotte and Brody Simms, Cole Muir, Logan and Maddox Alvater and Leo Henry Puckett; and his brother-in-law, George Guarnieri.
Besides his parents, Danny was preceded in death by his brother, Billy McCauley, and his sister, Patricia McCauley Guarnieri.
The family has requested in lieu of flowers that contributions please be made to St. Edward Church, 240 Tod Lane, Youngstown, OH 44504.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 10 to 10:50 a.m. Monday, April 28, 2025, at St. Edward Church, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., celebrated by Monsignor Robert Siffrin.
