Ann Linnea Tanoff 1931-2025
BOARDMAN — Ann Linnea Fredrickson Tanoff, affectionately known as Lynn, 94, passed away Friday, April 4, 2025.
Born March 22, 1931, in Youngstown, Lynn was the only daughter of Herman and Anna Marie, both from Sweden.
In 1949, Lynn graduated from South High School in Youngstown. She went on to earn a certification in nursing through Youngstown Hospital School of Nursing as a registered nurse. She continued her efforts in nursing as she worked in hospitals and nursing homes over the next few decades.
On Sunday, May 29, 1954, Lynn married Cyril Tanoff in Youngstown at the Chapel of Friendly Bells. They met at a Fred Astaire dance studio where Cyril was an instructor. They were married for 49 years before Cyril’s passing in July 2003. They lived in Youngstown, Austintown, abroad in Europe, then moved back to New Middletown, where they settled down on a couple of acres of land.
Lynn especially enjoyed playing the piano in her spare time and often taught her grandchildren lessons when visiting with them. Anywhere a vacant piano was spotted, she would gladly sit down and play a song or two for all to enjoy.
She and her husband were founding members of the St. Mark Orthodox Church in Youngstown. Lynn and Cyril were committed members, supporting the church’s growth and development throughout the years. They both particularly enjoyed being part of the church choir, sharing their voices in praise of the Lord.
Lynn and Cyril also enjoyed traveling abroad to sightsee and visit distant relatives located in Europe. Together they collected memorabilia and antiques from the numerous places they visited.
After supporting her husband as a teacher in the Ohio public school system, Lynn and her husband moved abroad to live in Germany, where Cyril taught for the U.S. Department of Defense School and Lynn volunteered.
Remaining to cherish Lynn’s memory are her children, Mark Tanoff, Brenda Tanoff and Gregg Tanoff; her grandchildren, Justin, Lindsey, and Hillary and her husband, Jason; and great-grandchildren, Carter and Lucas.
Preceding Lynn in death were her husband, Cyril Tanoff; parents, Herman and Anne Marie Fredrickson; and half-brother and half-sister, George and Evelyn Johnson.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2025, with a calling hour 10 to 11 a.m., at Clemente Funeral Home in Struthers, with clergy officiating.
Interment will be located in Lake Park Cemetery.
