Robert W. While 1942-2025

YOUNGSTOWN — Robert W. While, 81, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2025.

Born April 3, 1943, in Youngstown, a son of the late Robert and Nettie Boles While, Robert attended Austintown Fitch High School and began his work journey at a local pizza shop. He soon transitioned to a career as a machinist at Wean United and General Motors, where he dedicated many years before retiring. Following his retirement, Robert worked for Alexander Vending for about eight years before starting a career as a deputy with the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Department for seven years.

Robert proudly served in the United States Navy, adding another layer of honor to his life of service.

Beyond his professional life, Robert was known for his friendly demeanor, passion for bowling, and love for his family and furry companions. His time spent bowling alongside his fiancee, Linda, brought him immense joy. A skilled bowler, Robert cherished the camaraderie and competition of the lanes. He also enjoyed working on pool table covers, video machines and jukeboxes. Gardening was another one of his passions.

Robert is survived by his fiancee of 25 years, Linda Easton of Youngstown; son, Dr. Bob (Betsy) Kramer of Poland; his grandchildren, Ryan, Kent and Altair; two great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Dominic; his sisters, Carol Ann Kidder and Nettie Jean White; his brothers, Joseph, Charlie and James While; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Georgia Anderson, Judith Roberts, Mary Ellen Rouan and Lynette While; and his brothers, Ronald Boles, and Richard and David While.

Family and friends may pay their respects and celebrate Robert’s life 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel.
