Nancy Flanagan 1942-2025

AUSTINTOWN — Nancy Eichert Flanagan, 82, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 17, 2025, after battling cancer. She passed peacefully as her family showered her in prayers.

Nancy was born Oct. 8, 1942, to Louis and Virginia Flanagan. She graduated from Our Lady of Angels before marrying John Eichert, with whom she had six children.

Nancy cared deeply about her family and she consistently showed it. She was always planning a gathering to bring everyone together, sending packages to grandkids that lived far away and was the heart of the family that kept everyone connected.

Nancy worked as a home health care worker at Vista Park for many years until she retired. She showed consistent love and care to those she served, caring about the little details of their lives.

Nancy was a follower of Jesus. Her faith in the Lord carried her through many of the hardships she faced in life, including the passing of her 2-year-old son and her battles with cancer. Nancy loved the Lord, and she was confident in the love He had for her and her family. Nancy valued her faith above all else.

Nancy is survived by her five children, Gina Eichert-Powell of Canfield, Kim Zitricki of Columbus, Marc (Megan) Eichert of Boardman, Erik (Joy) Eichert of Austintown and Brian (Kristen) Eichert of Farmington Hills, Michigan. Two sisters and a brother are also surviving, Kathy Smith, Tim Flanagan and Lori Wiebell. Nancy will forever be missed by her 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her ex-husband, John Eichert; her sister, Judy Elmlinger; her brother, Terry Flanagan; her son, John Louis Eichert; and her granddaughter, Heather Morrison-Eichert.

The family would like to thank Hospice of the Valley, especially Kylie and Jessica, Pastor Carson, Dr. Robert DeBarnardo and staff of the Oncology Department at The Cleveland Clinic in Mayfield Heights, and Dr. William Bartels and staff in Canfield.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Nancy’s honor to Hospice of the Valley.

Family and friends are invited to calling hours 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, March 30, 2025, at A La Cart Catering in Canfield, with a celebration of life immediately to follow.
