Margaret R. Jendre 1921-2025
YOUNGSTOWN — Margaret R. Jendre, 103, died peacefully, Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2025, at her home.
She was born Oct. 13, 1921, in Youngstown, a daughter of Frederick and Mary Morgan Stickel.
She attended St. Brendan’s school and church. She graduated from Chaney High School.
Margaret met her husband, Merle, at the Idora Park Ballroom, rollerskating. They married in 1944 in Arizona while he was in the military. Merle preceded her in death on April 6, 1973.
Margaret was employed at the A&P warehouse and St. Elizabeth Hospital. She later worked at Wedgewood and Gran Lanes bowling alleys.
She was an avid bowler, forming lasting bonds, while being the secretary for the Youngstown Women’s Bowling Association for many years.
Margaret enjoyed NASCAR, birdwatching and picnics in the backyard.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, Patricia Cobey of Youngstown; son Philip “Flip” (Marybeth) Jendre of Youngstown; and granddaughter, Margaret “Maggie ” Cobey.
In addition to her parents and husband, Margaret was preceded in death by her son, David Jendre; brothers, George, William, Frederick, Morgan and Bernard Stickel; and sisters, Eleanor Thomas, Martha Pascarella, Elizabeth Stickel and Vera DePaul.
Private burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery.
