Lilia Caparso 1931-2025

POLAND — Lilia Caparso, 94, passed away early Wednesday morning, March 5, 2025.

Lilia will always be remembered for her smile and as the family peacemaker and caregiver for her parents in the family home until their passing. She was the first to always give a helping hand to anyone in need.

She was born Jan. 4, 1931, in Struthers, the daughter of Frank and Lucia Pompei Caparso, and was a lifelong area resident.

She graduated from Struthers High School and began her career in office administration at the JCPenney department store. Lilia then worked as a secretary for many years until she retired from General Electric Company.

Lilia was a devout Catholic and regularly attended Mass, along with volunteering at the St. Vincent de Paul soup kitchen until she was unable to do so due to health reasons. She was a former member of Holy Family Parish.

Lilia had many passions throughout her life. She enjoyed traveling, working in her yard and baking pizzelles for her family.

Lilia is survived by her sister, Gladys Klem; brother, Albert Caparso; brother-in-law, Lou DeMichele; sister-in-law, Phyllis Caparso; and 11 nieces and nephews; along with many great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.

Besides her parents, Lilia was preceded in death by brothers, Carl Caparso and Emiddio Caparso; and sisters, Ann White and Delores DeMichele.

Family and friends may pay their respects 11 to 11:50 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at St. Catherine of Siena Parish-St. Charles Borromeo Church, 7345 Westview Drive, Boardman, where a funeral Mass will follow at noon, with the Rev. Brian Cline as celebrant.

Burial will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Lowellville.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Ross & Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St., Boardman.

In lieu of flowers, material contributions may be made in Lilia’s name to St. Vincent de Paul Society, 317 Via Mt. Carmel Ave., Youngstown, OH 44505.
