James F. Pompoco 1929-2025
CANFIELD — James F. Pompoco, 95, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2025, at Poland Village Assisted Living.
Jim was born Aug. 21, 1929, in Youngstown, a son of the late Andrew and Agnes Toomey Pompoco.
Jim was a graduate of East High School in Youngstown. He went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps. Jim dedicated 30 years of service to the Youngstown Fire Department.
You could often find Jim teeing off in a good round of golf or tending to his yard and soaking up some sun. Never one to sit still, Jim always made it a point to stay fit and keep moving, being a member of many local gyms.
Above all, Jim cherished his family, especially his grandson, Michael Jaye, whom he adored.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Grace Kisel-Pompoco; sons, James (Rosemary) Pompoco of Howland and Michael (Melissa) Pompoco of Canfield; stepdaughter, Kelly Grist of Columbus; stepson, Ryan (Jessica) Grist of Henderson, Nevada; grandson, Michael Jaye Pompoco; and many friends and neighbors.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Annette Pompoco; daughter, Jayne Pompoco; sister, Mary Beth Bindas; and brother, Jack Pompoco.
In keeping with Jim’s wishes, there will be no services.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Poland Village Assisted Living, Akeso Hospice, Jackie and Lilly at Specialist Senior Care, and the Veteran Affairs for their wonderful care of Jim through the years.
