Eleanor Jean McMahon Higham 1930-2025
YOUNGSTOWN — Eleanor Jean McMahon Higham, 94, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, March 11, 2025, with her family by her side, at The Inn at Walker Mill.
Eleanor was born April 23, 1930, in Youngstown, the daughter of the late Karl and Mary Dunnigan McMahon. She was a lifelong area resident.
She graduated in 1948 from Austintown Fitch High School. Eleanor married the love of her life, Richard Thomas Higham Sr., on July 4, 1953, at St. Brendan Church. Sadly, he passed away Oct. 23, 2022, after 69 years together.
She was a homemaker who was dedicated to raising her children and grandchildren. She loved her family so much. Eleanor and her family were longstanding parishioners at St. Luke Church. She visited Ireland several times, remembering her Irish heritage. She loved to watch football. One of her favorite pastimes was cheering on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her sons, Rick (Karen) of Poland, Ken (Cathy) of Scottsdale, Arizona, Jim (Sue) of Boardman, Tim of Youngstown, Marty (Nancy) of Warren and Dave (Megan) Higham of Poland; and her daughters, Molly Higham of Youngstown, Mary (Mike) Ryba of Poland and Sally (Jeff) Vance of McComb. Eleanor was blessed with 29 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She also leaves her brothers, Ken and Mic (Maria) McMahon; and sisters, Marolyn (George) Biscan and Mary (Bill) Vanzandt.
Family and friends may call 10 to 10:50 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at St. Catherine of Siena Parish-St. Luke Church, 5235 South Ave., Boardman, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., celebrated by the Rev. Brian Cline.
Eleanor will be buried next to her husband Richard in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Ritman.
