Daniel P. Cavanaugh 1953-2025
EAST PALESTINE — Daniel Patrick Cavanaugh, 71, of East Palestine, passed away Thursday, Feb. 27, 2025, surrounded by family in East Palestine.
Dan was born Oct. 27, 1953, in Pittsburgh, Pa.
He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam Conflict.
He formed a successful company, TMC Transportation Management Consultants, Inc., where he continued to serve his clients alongside his son until his final days.
He had a strong work ethic and loved spending time with his family. He has spent many years coaching baseball for his sons’ teams. Dan also enjoyed golfing, fishing and making people laugh.
Dan is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carol Cunningham Cavanaugh; three children, Terri Cavanaugh of Florida, Brian (Melissa Elbert) Cavanaugh of East Palestine and Jennifer (David) Mercier of Michigan; his biological mother, Audry Gibbons; two half-sisters, Kimmy Huffman and Kelly Marmuth; and two grandchildren, Chandler Felger and Mia Orr.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jonathan Cavanaugh in 2015; his adopted parents who raised him, Charles and Katherine Cavanaugh; and a brother, Jimmy Cavanaugh.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday evening at the Linsley-Royal Funeral Home in East Palestine.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with interment to follow in Crest Haven Memorial Gardens in New Waterford.
