Sr. Marjorie King, HM 1934-2025

VILLA MARIA, Pa. — Sister Marjorie King, HM, formerly Sr. Luellen, 90, died Friday, Jan. 31, 2025, at Villa Maria Community Center.
Originally from Akron, she graduated from St. Mary High School in 1952 and entered the Sisters of the Humility of Mary in 1953 from Annunciation Parish. She professed her perpetual vows in 1958.
Sr. Marjorie dedicated 33 years to enriching young minds as an elementary teacher and director of religious education in parish schools in the Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Youngstown dioceses. After leaving her education ministry, she served at several facilities in Michigan and Ohio that housed women reclaiming their lives after being released from prison or rehab. Sr. Marjorie served in a CASA / Guardian ad Litem capacity with the Mahoning County Courts and was with St. Anthony’s Point in Sharon, Pa., giving therapeutic staff support. She served in hospitality ministry at Villa Maria Retreat Center and was a dedicated volunteer in the Humility of Mary archives at Villa Maria.
Sr. Marjorie celebrated her 70th Jubilee as a Sister of the Humility of Mary in 2023. She served with her sisters in the HM Ministry of Prayer at Villa Maria Community Center until her death.
The daughter of the late Charles W. and Ellen Gallagher King, and sister of the late Evelyn Lawrence, Mary Lou Naugle, Loretta Nicholas and Joseph King, she is survived by her brothers, Harry and Bob King; many nieces and nephews and their families; and her sisters in the Humility of Mary Congregation, with whom she shared her life for 72 years.
Mass will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, 2025, at Villa Maria Chapel, Villa Maria, Pa., with Rite of Return and viewing at Villa Maria Chapel beginning at 9:20 a.m., prior to the funeral Mass.
The funeral will be livestreamed.
Prayer of Remembrance celebrating the life of Sr. Marjorie King is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2025 (via Zoom).
