Roberta W. Ford 1935-2025
YOUNGSTOWN — Roberta Williams “Chickie” Ford, 89, of 1821 Old Furnace Road, departed this life 7:50 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, 2025, at Park Vista Rehabilitation Center, following cardiac arrest.
She was born July 13, 1935, in Youngstown, the daughter of Robert Clarence and Eva Hines Williams. She was a 1953 graduate of East High School.
She was employed with St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital for 25 years as a central service technician before retiring in 1997.
Roberta enjoyed baking, playing bingo, watching wrestling and cooking.
She married Chester Arthur Ford on Feb. 10, 1955; he died Nov. 27, 1983.
She leaves to mourn one son, Donnely (Tamara) Ford of Youngstown; one daughter, Ms. Gwendolyn Joyce (Willie) Reynolds of Youngstown; two sisters, Ms. Eva Mae Norris of Buffalo, New York, and Ms. Thelma Smith of Fredericksburg, Virginia; three grandchildren she reared, Darrell Ford, Aaron (Tieria) Reynolds and Ms. Ashley Reynolds, all of Youngstown; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Van Lee Ford; one daughter, Mrs. Cynthia Newell Brown; and one brother, Robert Clarence “Buddy” Williams Jr.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, 2025, with calling hours 2 to 3 p.m., at Sterling-McCullough Williams Youngstown Funeral Chapel.
Arrangements of comfort were handled by the Sterling-McCullough Williams Youngstown Funeral Home.
