Monica Guthridge 1964-2025

BOARDMAN — Monica Chicase Guthridge, a beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away Saturday, Feb. 22, 2025, at The Cleveland Clinic, surrounded by her family and loved ones after a long and courageous battle with leukemia.

Born Nov. 3, 1964, Monica was the oldest daughter of Andrew Chicase Jr. and Kathleen Venosky Chicase. She shared an unbreakable bond with her family, creating countless cherished memories that she held dear throughout her life. She brought strength, laughter and love wherever she went.

Monica was a dedicated employee of General Motors for over 20 years.

She was the heart of her family gatherings who found joy in running various pools for relatives and friends. Bingo days, spirited family card games and casino trips were hallmarks of her vibrant personality, often filling the air with laughter and friendly competition.

Above all else, Monica was a proud mother to her two sons, who she adored with every fiber of her being. Their accomplishments brought her immense pride and joy, but nothing could compare to the happiness she experienced when she welcomed her first grandchild in 2021. She embraced every moment of being a grandmother, filling her days with love, stories and laughter for her grandson. Monica’s generous spirit, playful nature and fierce loyalty will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched. She leaves behind a legacy of love and memories that will forever live in the hearts of her family and friends.

She will be remembered lovingly by her mother, Kathleen Venosky Chicase of Poland; two sons, Mark (Jackie) Guthridge of McMurray, Pa., and Michael Parise of Columbus; grandson, Brooks Guthridge; four siblings, Andrew (Roseann) Chicase III of New Springfield, Jeffrey Chicase of Poland, Renee Devlin of Boardman and Marla Chicase of Canfield; boyfriend, Tony Viano of Canfield; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Andrew Chicase Jr.

A prayer service to honor Monica’s life will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 28, 2025, at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman.

There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in Monica’s memory.

Rest in peace, dear Monica. Your vibrant spirit and loving heart will always be with us.
