Barbara J. Carpenter 1934-2025
YOUNGSTOWN – Barbara Jean Anderson Carpenter, 90, of 526 West Earle Ave., departed this life at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2025, at Hospice House, following complications from an extended illness.
She was born July 21, 1934, in Youngstown, the daughter of Samuel Anderson and Esther Hubbard Mercer. She graduated in 1952 from South High School and in 1954 from St. Elizabeth School of Nursing.
Barbara was employed with St. Elizabeth Hospital for 20 years as a licensed practical nurse before retiring in 1990.
She was a member of the Third Baptist Church, where she served on the Usher Board, belonged to Covenant Chapter #48 Order of the Eastern Stars and enjoyed gardening and flowers.
She married Kenneth Carpenter Sr. in 1954. He died in 2011.
She leaves to mourn one son, Kenneth Carpenter Jr. of Youngstown; and a host of relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Celebration of Life was held 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, 2025, at the Sterling-McCullough Williams Youngstown Funeral Chapel.
Burial took place at Lake Park Cemetery.
Arrangements of comfort were handled by the Sterling-McCullough Williams Youngstown Funeral Home.
