Donna M. Gleydura 1938-2025
HUBBARD — Donna M. Gleydura, 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at home, Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025.
Donna was born Oct. 27, 1938, in Youngstown, a daughter of Daniel and Mary Petak Carano. She was a 1956 graduate of Hubbard High School.
She had worked at Westinghouse Electric in Sharon, Pa., Rob’s Hallmark in Hubbard and was a receptionist at the Jewish Community Center in Youngstown.
A creative spirit, Donna found joy in the art of cross-stitching and sewing, her hands weaving love into every thread. She held a deep appreciation for music and a special fondness for classic movies, often filling her home with the timeless melodies and stories of a bygone era. Yet above all, Donna’s greatest devotion was her faith. She found comfort and strength in reading the Bible every day, drawing wisdom and peace from its pages. A deeply spiritual woman, she believed wholeheartedly in the power of prayer, letting her unwavering faith guide her through life’s challenges and joys alike. Her spirituality was a cornerstone of her being and her faith left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Her love for words was evident in the poems and prayers she crafted, each one a reflection of her unwavering faith and the depth of her heart.
She was known for her infectious sense of humor — a gift that could brighten even the darkest days. Her quick wit and playful nature left those around her smiling and laughing, creating unforgettable memories her family will hold dear forever.
She was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, member of Hudson Essex Terraplane Club, AACA and the former Northside Club. A proud and passionate Cleveland sports fan, Donna rooted tirelessly for her teams, especially her beloved Cleveland “Indians.”
Donna had a deep appreciation for life’s simple joys, from savoring her favorite snack to spending quality time with her loved ones. One of her greatest passions was camping with her family, traveling across the United States in their camper and creating unforgettable memories along the way. She also cherished the adventures she shared with her husband and friends at the annual Hudson Essex Terraplane car meets, where she had been a member since 1964.
Most of all, Donna cherished her family. She adored her husband, Chuck — the love of her life, high school sweetheart, soulmate, best friend and steadfast partner. Together they built a beautiful life filled with laughter, love and devotion.
She took immense pride in her children and grandchildren, finding her greatest joy in their happiness and accomplishments.
Donna leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and creativity that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and always remembered.
