Josephine Horney 1928-2024
BOARDMAN — Josephine Horney, 96, passed away Saturday, Dec. 21, 2024.
Josephine was born April 14, 1928, a daughter of the late Josephine Kacir and Stephen Sefcik.
She was married Feb 14, 1953, to George Horney.
She had worked at Truscon in the office before her marriage, and later part-time at the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services.
She was a member of St. Luke Church and its Altar Rosary Society.
Josephine is survived by her daughter, Maria (Mike) Moss of Boardman; sons, George (the late Belinda) Horne of Sugar Land, Texas, and Mark Horney of Apache Junction, Arizona; five grandchildren, Lauren (Ryne) McKinney of Franklin, Texas, John Horne of Houston, Texas, Michael and Steven Moss, and Amanda (Nick) Heitzer; and one sister, Rita Sefcik of Canfield. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Halle, Rawlin and Mackston McKinney of Franklin, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George, who died Aug. 7, 2016; sister, Mary (Andrew) Vagas, Agatha (Edward) Potkanowicz, infant, Magdaline, and Rita’s twin sister, who died at birth.
Calling hours will be held 10 to 10:45 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30, 2024, at St. Luke Catholic Church, Boardman, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with the Very Rev. Msgr. John Zuraw, J.C.L., V.G. officiating.
Josephine will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown.
Arrangements are being handled by the Kubina-Yuhasz-Wasko Funeral Home, Boardman.
