Joseph S. Voytko 1934-2024

YOUNGSTOWN — Joseph S. Voytko, 90, passed away surrounded by family at his home, Monday, Dec. 23, 2024.

Joseph was born July 13, 1934, in Youngstown, the son of John and Maria Kubanda Voytko. A U.S. Air Force veteran, Joseph was a hard-working, detail-oriented, reliable employee of Commercial Intertech for almost 50 years.

Joseph was bilingual, speaking Slovak and English fluently. He was an accomplished carpenter who enjoyed singing opera while working on the home and property he took great pride in building and maintaining. He was a completely classic gentleman and a devout Catholic, belonging to St Cyril and Methodius, the church senior club and St. Patrick Church. Being a dedicated family man and friend, he was well known for putting others before himself.

He was a comedian of sorts, keeping people laughing with spot-on impressions of various silver-screen celebrities. His hobbies included auctions, music, golf, enjoying time with his family and (recently) flirting with visiting nurses.

Joseph leaves behind to cherish his memory, his niece, Mary Louise (Gabriel) Hluchan; his great-nieces, Christine Arita and Melissa (Stephen) Musser; and great-great-nephew and godson, John Sebastian Arita.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Andrew, John (Jeannette) and Veronica Voytko, Mary (Michael) Presco and Anne (Vance) Polo.

Private family services will take place at a later date.

His family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Wilner, his staff, and the doctors and staff from Southern Care Hospice for their compassionate care of Joseph.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that material contributions be made to St. Patrick Church, 357 N. Main St., Hubbard, OH 44425, or any Catholic church for Masses in memory of Joseph.

“A gentleman is one who puts more into the world than he takes out.”

Arrangements were entrusted to the Kubina-Yuhasz-Wasko Funeral Home, to whom the family thanks, as well. To view the obituary and share condolences, visit Kubina-Yuhasz-Wasko at www.waskofamily.com.
