Thomas A. Moorehead 1966-2024

NEWTON FALLS — Thomas A. Moorehead, 58, passed away suddenly due to complications of hip surgery, Monday, Nov. 25, 2024, at Trumbull Regional Medical Center.

He was born Jan. 24, 1966, in Warren, the son of the late John W. Moorehead and Patricia A. Holko Moorehead.

Tom lived in Newton Falls all of his life and graduated from Newton Falls High School in the Class of 1984. He then attended the Culinary Institute of America in New York and graduated in 1986.

Tom married the love of his life, Rebecca Lynn Held on June 1, 2014, and they enjoyed the past 10 years of marriage together.

He worked as an industrial salesman for Brenner Industrial Sales and Supply in Youngstown for the last 25 years. Tom was a member of the Newton Falls Amvets Post #112 and the Newton Falls VFW Post #3332. He held the position of mayor of Newton Falls from January 2004 to December 2007 and served on the city council from January 2008 to November 2009.

He enjoyed golfing, cooking, Fourth of July parties, his family and friends, Ohio State Buckeye football and vacationing with his family in Longboat Key, Florida.

Tom was preceded in death by only his parents, John and Patricia Moorehead.

He is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca L. Moorehead of Newton Falls; one daughter, Tiffanie Mohan and Dylan Derry of Newton Falls; one son, Christopher and Jessica Mohan of Newton Falls; two sisters, Lori and John Klatt of Aurora, Illinois, and Ann and Greg Jones of Lake Forest, Illinois; and one granddaughter, his beloved, Addalyn, with whom he spent endless hours, reading books and playing Barbies.

Tom’s wishes were to be cremated.

The family will receive friends for calling hours 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2024, at the James Funeral Home, Newton Falls. Memorial donations can be made to the Newton Falls Amvets Post #112, 37 W. Broad St., Newton Falls, OH 44444.
