AUSTINTOWN — Lauren Traer went home to her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2024, at her home, after a lifelong battle with multiple chronic illnesses.
She was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Carol; her sister-in-law, Darlene; her brother-in-law, Joseph; and her niece, Sarah.
She is survived by her beloved husband, James Traer; her sister, Cynthia (Richard) Brunner; and their sisters, Elizabeth (Patrick) Petit and Judith Goodman. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Clifford Hughes; and her sister-in-law, Patricia (Michael) Gimpel; as well as treasured nieces and nephews.
Lauren grew up happily playing in her family home, down by the creek and in the snow. She was raised in the Bath United Church of Christ, where she was a member of youth groups and choirs. She was active in the marching band, drill team, gymnastics and modeling.
Lauren graduated from the University of Akron with a degree in respiratory therapy and went on to earn her registered respiratory therapist credentials. Her career included both management positions and ICU care, during which time she treated her patients with dignity, respect and compassionate care.
In 1990, Lauren moved to Fort Myers, Florida, to accept a supervisory position. There she met her husband, Jim. They also lived in Cape Coral and Gainesville, Florida.
During the last 15 years of her career, Lauren managed a medical transcription company. When Jim retired, they returned to Ohio, where she was an active member of Austintown Community Church. She treasured her church family and especially her Bible study group, all of which gave her unending love and support.
There will be a celebration of life ceremony 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024, at Austintown Community Church. For those attending, following the ceremony, a luncheon will be served in the fellowship hall at the church.
