Daniel R. Crum 1961-2024

UPPER ARLINGTON — It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Daniel R. Crum, who left us Friday, Nov. 1, 2024, at the age of 63. Daniel was a beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend, known for his kindness, generosity and unwavering spirit.

Born Oct. 6, 1961, Daniel spent his early life in Santa Ana, California, before moving to the Youngstown area. He graduated from Canfield High School and went on to receive his bachelor’s in business administration from Youngstown State University.

Daniel lived a life full of love and dedication. He was a devoted family man, especially proud of his daughter and selfless in his attention to his grandchildren. His career in IT was marked by his passion and commitment, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues as a dedicated employee.

Daniel had a zest for life that was evident in his many hobbies and interests. He spent countless volunteer hours maintaining his YSU sports website, attended YSU football games and was a welcomed sight at tailgate gatherings. He was a proud Penguin!

He is survived by his daughter, Kelley Ann Crum Boorn, and her husband, Joshua; and their four children, Logan Daniel, Liam Joshua, Landon Xander and Alexander Richard. He is also survived by his brother, Col. Ralph M. Crum, and his wife, Kristine; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Ralph G. and Helen Crum; and his brother, Myron Crum.

A memorial service where friends and family will gather to celebrate Daniel’s life and share their fondest memories will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024, at Schoedinger Northwest, 1740 Zollinger Road, Upper Arlington, followed by a reception lasting until 4 p.m.
