Roy John Perry Sr. 1941-2024

BOARDMAN — Roy John Perry Sr. passed away peacefully at home, Thursday, Oct. 24, 2024, with hospice care, at the age of 83, with his loving wife by his side.

Roy was born in Youngstown and attended Campbell Memorial High School, where he lettered in football and served as senior class vice president. Roy later served as treasurer for Phi Delta Chi fraternity at Duquesne University, where he graduated from the school of pharmacy. Roy worked as a licensed pharmacist for 51 years and enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and traveling with his wife, Ellie.

Roy married his high school sweetheart, Ellie (Eleanor Jenny Malarcik-Perry), in 1962 and they have two sons, Roy and Kevin. Roy and Ellie loved music and regularly won jitterbug dancing contests. Roy and Ellie were passionate explorers and have cherished friends throughout the Mahoning Valley, as well as Slippery Rock, Pa.; Atlanta, Georgia; Ocean City, Maryland; Geneva, Ohio; and Leesburg, Florida.

Roy is survived by his wife, Eleanor; sons, Roy (Lori Allen) Perry and Kevin Perry; grandchildren, Samantha Mayer, Ashley (Dan Mauch) Perry, Nicholas (Jessica Wilson) Perry and Cassandra Perry; great-grandchildren, Max, Charlie and Julian; nieces, nephews and Bill W.

Roy was predeceased by his brother, David Perry; and parents, Rocco Perry and Clara Zicardi-Perry-Chapman.

The Perry family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell.

A celebration of Roy’s life will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Parish in Boardman on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2024. Calling hours will be 10 to 11 a.m. at the church, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., officiated by the Very Rev. Msgr. John Zuraw.

A luncheon for family and close friends will conclude the celebration.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Charles Parish in lieu of flowers.
