Philip E. McGuire 1934-2024

CANFIELD — Philip E. “Mickey” McGuire, 90, passed away peacefully, Sunday, Oct. 6, 2024, surrounded by his family.

Mickey was born May 30, 1934, to parents Philip Edward and Marguerite Rochford McGuire, and grew up on the north side of Youngstown.

While attending Ursuline High School, Mickey joined the U.S. Army. He served as a Youngstown firefighter from 1959 until his retirement in 1988. For many years he was a tax preparer and assistant manager for H & R Block.

Mickey served as president of the Youngstown Firefighters Credit Union and was actively involved in the Police and Fire Retirees of Ohio for many years.

A lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers and University of Notre Dame fan, he loved attending local high school and college football games. Mickey was very proud of his 50-plus-year sobriety.

Mickey is survived by his wife of 38 years, Rosemarie McGuire; children, Peggy Rouzzo, Kathy (Gary) Duraney and Kim (Tom Graham) McGuire; stepchildren, Pam Makara, Paul (Vicki) Cook and Karen Cook; grandchildren, Cindy (Chris) DelSignore, Jennifer (Angelo Scordo) Rouzzo, Gary Duraney, Megan McGuire-Graham, Shannon (Scott) Campbell, Eryn (Dustin Welsh) Duraney, T. J. Graham (Geena Badalamenti), Andrea Harris and Vincent Harris; great-grandchildren, Joslyn DelSignore, Hayden Duraney and Brody Campbell; and his sister, Mary McGuire.

In addition to his parents, Mickey was preceded in death by his son, Jerome “Jerry” Michael McGuire; stepdaughter, Kathy Harris; siblings, Sara Anne “Sally” Rudolph, Jerome “Jerry” McGuire, David P. McGuire and Richard E. “Mac” McGuire; brother-in-law, Donald S. Rudolph, Sr.; sister-in-law, Marcella McGuire; and his friend and mother of his children, Lucy McGuire.
