STRUTHERS -- Norma Elaine Carson, 78, departed this earthly life to rest in the arms of her Heavenly Father on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2024.
Born Jan. 13, 1946, in Youngstown, Norma was the daughter of Paul Benefield and Ezell Garrett Benefield.
Norma was a graduate of East High School and attended Youngstown State University for two years. She was employed in the dietary food department at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital for over 40 years. A member of St. Andrewes A.M.E, she was a member of the Women's Missionary Society and Senior Usher Board. Norma enjoyed bingo and loved spending time with her family.
She married Lester Carson, who passed away April 7, 1997.
Norma leaves to cherish her memory her son, David (Teshia) Carson of North Carolina; sisters, Paula (George) Masuzy and Denise Benefield, both of Youngstown; grandchildren, Noah, Christian, David Jr. and Elijah; and one great-grandchild.
She will be greeted in heaven by her husband, Lester; her parents; and daughter, Leslie.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, 2024, at St. Andrewes A.M.E. Church,521 W. Earle Ave., Youngstown.
