Karen M. Schmidt 1961-2024

YOUNGSTOWN — Karen Marie Schmidt, 62, passed away Friday evening, Sept. 27, 2024, at Hospice House, surrounded by her family, after a four-year courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.
Karen was born Dec. 14, 1961, in Youngstown, a daughter of Joseph Maurice and Frances Untch Damelio.
She was a 1981 graduate of Chaney High School and a proud native of Youngstown’s West Side. She had a love for Mill Creek Park and enjoyed many walks through the park with family and friends. Karen was a member of St. Brendan Catholic Church.
Karen was determined and very hardworking. In her life she held many positions, from general manager to supervising work. She worked for Comprehensive Logistics, KraftMaid and Leer. Through it all, her goal was to work hard to provide for her family, whom she loved.
Outside of work, Karen enjoyed gardening and decorating her home. She loved coming home after a long day’s work and being greeted by her dog, Max. Most of all, Karen loved and cherished her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved hearing about their latest achievements and cherished the time she spent with them.
Karen will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Karen will always be remembered by her daughters, Nicole Beveridge, Danielle Beveridge and Kristen Schmidt, all of Youngstown; grandchildren, Mackenzie, Savannah and Taylor McCartney, Layla, Olivia, Sophia and Andrea Dixon, and Delaney Ozias; her life partner, Christopher Dunn; siblings, Chuck (Kathleen) Damelio, Patricia (Mike) Modarelli, Thomas Damelio, Joe (Brenda) Damelio and Mary (Mike) Horvath, all of Youngstown; her former husband, Roy Schmidt; and many loved nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Karen was preceded in death by her son, Joe Beveridge; and sister, Kathleen Carbon.
Family and friends may visit and pay tribute to Karen 11 a.m. to noon, with a funeral service to follow at noon, Monday, Oct. 7, 2024, at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St., Boardman.
