John A. DePinto Jr. 1958-2024

GIRARD — John Anthony DePinto Jr., 66, passed away early Sunday morning, Oct. 20, 2024.

John was born Jan. 16, 1958, in Youngstown, the son of John Anthony Sr. and Helen Korenic DePinto, and was a lifelong area resident.

He graduated from Liberty High School and continued his education and earned his bachelor’s degree in law from Youngstown State University.

John was employed for over 20 years as a paralegal working for Legal Aid until his retirement in 2002.

He was an active member of St. Rose Church, where he served as an usher and altar server for many years.

John also was an active and proud member of Knights of Columbus Girard Council 2935 and was a Fourth-Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Bishop Franzetta Assembly # 846, where he served in various capacities. John volunteered his time helping run the fish dinners every Lent, as part of the honor guard and by serving on the board of the President Charity Foundation.

John will always be remembered for his generosity, smile and outgoing personality. He was a huge Cleveland Sports fan, always rooting on his favorite teams, the Browns and Indians / Guardians. He also enjoyed golfing, listening to music and collecting comic books.

His family was always his top priority and he always looked forward to spending time with his grandson, JC.

John married the love of his life, the former Michele A. Kusmirek, on Nov. 18, 1989; they celebrated over 23 years of wonderful marriage until her passing, April 21, 2013.

John leaves behind to hold onto his precious memories, his son, John Joseph (Tricia) DePinto of Dayton; and his beloved grandson, John Cornell “IC” DePinto, along with nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Michele; and his dog, Rover.

Family and friends may pay their respects 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, 2024, at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St., Boardman.

There will be additional calling hours 9 to 9:50 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, 2024, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica, 343 Via Mount Carmel, Youngstown, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m., with the Very Rev. Msgr. Michael J. Cariglio as celebrant.

Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown.
