Charlotte Richards 1942-2024

BOARDMAN — Charlotte Annie Blaemire Richards peacefully passed away Sunday, Oct. 27, 2024, at The HomeStead at Gentlebrook in Hartville, joining her beloved husband, mother and son.

Charlotte was born Feb. 10, 1942, in Youngstown. A proud 1960 graduate of South High School, Charlotte was an active member of her community.

In 1961, Charlotte married Dr. Richard S. Richards, sharing a devoted partnership both at home and at St. Elizabeth’s, where she was an active member of the St. Elizabeth’s Medical Auxiliary. Together, they were passionate about their hobbies, friends and family life.

Charlotte was adventurous, pursuing interests that ranged from piloting small aircraft to riding motorcycles with her husband. She taught herself to play the banjo, loved traveling — especially big band cruises and visits to Las Vegas — and had a lifelong love for knitting. Her mastery of both hand and machine knitting led her to teach her techniques to knitting guilds as far as Las Vegas.

Charlotte is survived by her daughter, Chrissie Ann (Dr. Thomas) Watson; her sons, Dr. Paul (Lori Murray) Richards and Dr. Richard (Rosanne Toti) Richards; her grandchildren, Adam (Sarah Evans), Stephen and Christopher Watson, Lauren and Justin Richards, and Maria and John Richards. She was delighted to welcome her great-granddaughter, Clara Watson, in 2023.

She is also survived by her sister, Christine D Spencer.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her mother; husband; son, Stephen John Richards; and sister, Nancy Jicha.

Charlotte’s family is deeply grateful for the compassionate care she received at The HomeStead at Gentlebrook and Absolute Hospice. All who knew her will greatly miss her love, kindness and spirit.

A private family memorial service will be held.
