Wilma Hart 1935-2024
STRUTHERS — Wilma Hart passed peacefully into Heaven with her daughters and son-in-law by her side, Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2024.
Wilma was born on her family’s farm in Fort Ashby, W.Va., a daughter to the late Eugene and Bertha Simpson Myers.
In 1953, she married James Hart. They would soon move to Ohio, eventually settling in Struthers, where they raised their three children. Her home was always open to her children’s and grandchildren’s friends.
Wilma was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a wonderful cook who could be counted on to make each person’s favorite meal or dessert for any occasion.
Wilma spent more than 25 years working at Mike’s Party Shop, getting to know many of the neighborhood children and their families during that time. She made countless slushies for the kids going home from Sexton Street School.
After retiring, Jim and Wilma enjoyed many winters in Venice, Florida, making new friends and enjoying life at the beach.
Wilma is survived by her daughters, Debbie Horvath and Beckie (Steve) Evanson; her grandchildren, Eric (Shannon) Horvath, Jessica (Mike Gordon) Evanson and Jackie (Larry Armes) Horvath; great-grandchildren, Kellen and Reilly Horvath, Brynn Cappelli and Colin Hallquist; former son-in-law, James Woody Horvath; and Maggie and Desiree Evanson, who became daughter and granddaughter in her heart. She is also survived by her sister, Beverly Bly; brothers, James (Colleen) Myers and Bruce (Judy) Myers; and brothers-in-law, Bob (Mary) Hart and Jim Mauk; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Waiting to greet her in Heaven are her husband, Jim; son, Donald Hart; grandson, Jamie Evanson; her brothers, Gilbert and Delbert Myers; and sisters-in-law, Shirley Brown and Betty Jane Mauk.
Wilma’s family would like to thank her caregivers, Neena and Alexa, and the staff of Southern Care Hospice, especially Tawania, Sabrina and Ralph.
Calling hours will take place from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, 2024, with a funeral service to follow at 2 p.m., at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, 11 Spring St., Struthers, OH 44471. Burial will follow in Lake Park Cemetery.
