Walter Porembski 1950-2024

BOARDMAN — Walter Porembski, 74, passed away at Assumption Village in North Lima, Monday, Sept. 16, 2024.

He was born Feb. 9, 1950, in Blackshaw Moor / Leek, Staffordshire, England, a son of the late Paul and Eugenia Fryda Porembski.

Walter emigrated from England to the United States and Youngstown with his parents and sister in 1951. He grew up on the east and south sides of Youngstown and later lived in Boardman and Canfield. Walter attended St. Stanislaus Catholic School and graduated from South High School in 1968. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church and worked at Youngstown Sheet and Tube.

He was a truly wonderful and caring man. Walter loved talking about history and watching historical movies, especially those about WWII. He was always tinkering with new and old gadgets. He loved animals and family gatherings; he enjoyed watching family sporting events and was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and The Ohio State Buckeyes. Walter was always available to help when family or friends needed him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He leaves behind his brother, Chester (Louise) Porembski of Columbus; sisters, Kay (Larry) Ahlquist of Humboldt, Tennesse, Christine Viano of Boardman, Theresa (Robert) Good of North Lima and Jennifer (Louis) Ross of Canfield; nieces and nephews, Mark (Brandy) Ahlquist, James (Jennifer) Viano III, Leah (Alessandro) Lumbaca, Andrew (Sarah) Good, Joseph (Lauren) Porembski, Daniel Porembski, Kristi (Steve) Master, Scott (Gina) Viano, Robert (Christine) Good Jr., Stefanie (Noah) Rau, Anne (Joseph) McDaniel and Robert Stanko III; uncle, Casimer (Stella) Fryda; and aunt, Jennie Fryda; along with many cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, James Viano Jr.

Private services were held.
