Janet Rae Yacopi, 1953-2024

Mrs. Yacopi was born May 21, 1953, in Youngstown, the daughter of the late Harold and Margaret O’Brien McCoy and had lived in the area all of her life. She was a graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School and Youngstown State University.

She dedicated her entire career to child development and education mainly at Thumbs Up Preschool in Youngstown, where she worked for over 35 years as a teacher and director. She was also a member and past president of the Moose Lodge, Niles.

Most of all she will be remembered as a beloved wife, mother, sister, Nana and friend. She was a truly selfless woman with a huge heart for others. If you are the one of many who had the privilege of knowing her, for even a moment, you immediately knew her love, compassion, kindness and empathy that she showed to everyone.

She is survived by her husband, Alfred Yacopi, and they were to celebrate their 50th anniversary Sept. 14; her daughter, Stacy (Michael) Schesler of Gibsonia, Pa.; a brother, Terry (Cindy) McCoy of Leetonia; and her three grandchildren, Evan, Emma and Eli.

It was the request of Mrs. Yacopi that no services be held.
