Cynthia M. Velichko, 1961-2024

STRUTHERS — Cynthia M. Velichko, 62, passed away suddenly Thursday evening, Sept. 5, 2024, at her home.

Cynthia, known by family and friends as “Cindy,” was born Nov. 8, 1961, in Struthers, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Elizabeth, known as “Betty Lou,” Kristian Velichko.

She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, Class of 1979.

Cindy worked for Astro Shapes in Struthers for over 30 years.

She was a devoted mother, sister and a good friend to everyone she encountered. Cindy was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Cindy is survived by her two children, Candace J. (Paul) Wanat of Poland and Bernard “Bernie” C. Gorvet of Youngstown; two brothers, Nick (Laurie) Velichko of Youngstown and Joe (Brenda) Velichko of Canfield; and her sister, Julie (Jim) Gonzalez of Akron; a brother-in-law, Mike Puhalla of Youngstown; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Cindy was preceded in death by a sister, Debbie J Puhalla; and her companion for many years, Larry McDaniel; and her cat of 20 years, Kitty.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2024, at Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, 11 Spring St. in Struthers.

Per Cindy’s request, there will be no funeral service.

Cindy was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all.
