Carl L. Kesner Jr. 1941-2024

POLAND — Carl L. Kesner Jr., 83, formerly of Hubbard, passed away peacefully, Thursday Aug. 15, 2024, at Hospice of the Valley Hospice House in Poland.

Carl was born April 22, 1941, in Youngstown, a son of Carl L. Sr. and Muriel Moore Kesner.

He graduated from Youngstown State University with an associate degree in nursing and later graduated from the Allegheny General Hospital Nurse Practitioner Program.

Carl was a nurse practitioner for 30 years at Metro General Hospital in Cleveland and later at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren, retiring in 2006.

He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Hubbard.

He enjoyed bowling, the computer and spending time with his pets and family.

Carl was a veteran of the United States Army Security Agency during the Vietnam War.

His first wife, the former Shirley Brady, whom he married Aug. 20, 1966, passed away Oct. 9, 2004.

Carl will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by his family: his second wife, the former Kim Rovder, whom he married May 5, 2007; his daughter, Elizabeth Sarah Kesner (Timothy Chito) of Pulaski, Pa.; his grandson, Joshua M. (Leandra) Kesner; and two great-grandchildren, Nickolas Brady Kesner and Harmony Kariza.

He also leaves his brother, Dennis Paul (Kathy) Kesner of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Cramer Marstellar; his first wife; his son, John C. Kesner; and stepsister, Phyllis Smith.

A memorial service was held Sunday, Aug. 18, 2024, at Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home.
