Angela Blair 1931-2024

NEW MIDDLETOWN — Angela Marie Elizabeth Pacillo Blair, 93, of Austintown, died Wednesday, July 31, 2024, in hospice care at Masternick Memorial in New Middletown.

Angela was born Feb. 17, 1931, in Newark, New Jersey.

Early on, Angela had a sense of adventure that took her to Texas to pursue both a bachelor’s degree at the University of Texas at Austin and a master’s degree from Stephen F. Austin State University.

Angela had a long career as a teacher in California, where, on Aug. 11, 1962, she married her husband, Frank Penn Blair, who preceded her in death in 1980.

Lovingly known as “Aunt Mary,” Angela was also preceded by her parents, Gerardo and Josephine Pacillo; and by six of her seven siblings, Michael, Pasquale “Patsy,” Christine, Gerard “Junior,” Daniel and Adelaide.

She is survived by her daughter, Kristine Blair; son-in-law, Kevin Williams; her sister, Rose Zeltser; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Angela was a lover of mystery novels, Westerns, exercise and was active in Bible study, bingo playing and several veterans associations. She will be remembered for her fiercely independent spirit, her dry sense of humor and her devotion to her Catholic faith.

A memorial Mass is scheduled at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 4545 New Road, Austintown, OH 44515.

A private interment will take place in the Riverside National Cemetery in California, where she will be laid to rest with her husband Frank.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Austintown, or the American Cancer Society.
