Alan Dale Woolley 1952-2024
BOARDMAN — Alan Dale Woolley, 72, went home for a well-deserved rest and to be with his Lord and Savior and beloved family, Monday, Aug. 12, 2024.
He was a much-loved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all.
Alan was born to Robert and Dorothy Hughes Woolley on June 22, 1952, in Youngstown. He grew up on the West Side along with his seven siblings and many lifelong friends.
Al graduated from Chaney High School and went to work for Oldberg Manufacturing, and then spent 38 years at Syro Steel before retiring.
He loved spending time with his family and, in earlier years, fishing on Lake Erie with his brother, Don. He also loved going to the casino.
Al was a veteran of the 838th MP Company of the Ohio National Guard for six years in the 1970s. He was a member of American Legion Post 235 in Girard.
On Sept. 1, 1973, Alan married his wife of nearly 51 years, the former Janice Tarantino, and together they raised three wonderful children in Boardman.
Alan has gone to join his beloved daughter, Andrea Leigh Finkler; parents, Robert and Dorothy; in-laws, Frank and Erma Tarantino; much-loved sisters, Dorothy Kaglic and Debbie Acierno; and brothers, Robert and Thomas Woolley.
He leaves to cherish joyful, hilarious and wonderful memories to his wife, Janice; beloved children, Jennifer (Richard) Romeo, Alan (Amy) Woolley and Michael Finkler; seven beautiful grandchildren, Gina and Vito Romeo, Noah, Gabriel and Liam Finkler, and Brooks and Frankie Woolley, who all loved papa so very much; brother and best friend, Donald (Connie) Woolley; sisters, Judy Foraker and Peggy Lucyk; sister and brother-in-law, Gina and George Colaneri; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may pay their respects 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, 2024, at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave., Boardman.
The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Thomas Traikoff and Dr. Hazel Bigdelli for the kind and compassionate care shown to Al.
