Logan G. Matas 1997-2024

DIAMOND — Logan G. Matas, 27, loving son and brother, peacefully passed away to eternal life, Sunday, July 14, 2024, at his residence.

He was born June 6, 1997, in Warren, the second child of Richard and Jennifer Matas, who lovingly raised Logan and his brother, Doug, in Berlin Center.

He obtained his formal education in the Western Reserve School System, graduating from Western Reserve High School in 2016. He was a varsity letterman in football and baseball. Logan went on to enlist in the military, joining the United States Marine Corps after graduating high school. He served in the Marines at the Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Florida, and Camp Pendleton, Oceanside, California. He obtained employment at Ultium Cells in Lordstown as a technician of lithium-ion automotive batteries.

Among his favorite pastimes were sports: football, basketball and baseball. He enjoyed attending Cleveland Cavs and Guardians games. He also enjoyed playing video games and creating “beats” music with his friends.

Family and friends will remember Logan for his comical nature, his determination to use hot sauce on every food item, his willingness to assist others and the enjoyable conversations and storytelling he had with his many acquaintances.

Treasured memories of Logan will be carried on by his loving and caring family: his beloved brother, Doug; his stepsister, Alena and her husband, Ty; his mother, Jennifer and stepdad, Kermit; and cousins, Nick, Jake, Michael, Thomas, Alissa, Michelle, Jennifer, Paula, Lisa, Eric and Kristen.

Logan was preceded in death by his father, Richard Matas; his grandparents, John and Frances Matas, and Leonard and Arlene Yochman; and his uncle, Joe Yochman.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at Lane Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, 5797 Mahoning Ave., Austintown. Friends and family may call 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 22, 2024, at the funeral home.
