Jon A. Bolander 1934-2024
APOPKA, Fla. — Jon A. Bolander, 89, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Hospice of the Valley Hospice House.
Jon was born Dec. 30, 1934, in Youngstown, a son of the late Clifford and Florence Alexander Bolander.
He graduated from Poland Seminary High School in 1954 and served in the U.S. Army.
In 1961, Jon moved to Florida and worked at Martin Marietta, and then started an office coffee service company, American Beverage. He owned and operated the company for over 30 years before retiring in 2012.
Jon was a member of Maitland Presbyterian Church in Maitland, Florida, and was a member of the Rotary Club of Seminole County. He loved visiting Fontana Village in North Carolina, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, spending time with family and volunteering at The Lifeboat Project in Apopka.
Jon is survived by two children, Jill E. (Gary) Cohen of Apopka and Jon D. (Lorri) Bolander of Apopka, with whom he made his home; two grandchildren, Lauren E. (Taylor) Bolander of Oviedo, Florida, and Joshua A. (Alejandra) Bolander of Apopka; three grandchildren by marriage, Kristin (Chadd) MacGilfrey of Los Angeles, California, Monica Cohen of Maitland, Florida, and Valleri (Andy) Cohen-Collier of Sebastian, Florida; one great-grandchild, Riley Sloan MacGilfrey; his sisters-in-law, Glenna (Pat) Droege of Boardman and Linda (Dave) Taylor of Youngstown; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Besides his parents, Jon was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, the former Dolores Rae Reynallt, whom he married Nov. 23, 1957, and who died Oct. 9, 2008; two brothers, Clifford Bolander and Henry Bolander; and sister, Jane Ohle.
Per Jon’s request, there will be a celebration of life service at a later date. There are no calling hours.
