Herbert H. Green Jr. 1951-2024
YOUNGSTOWN — Mr. Herbert Halcot Green Jr., 73, transitioned to eternal peace on Friday, July 5, 2024, at the home of his daughter, Stacey, with his family at his side.
Mr. Green was born May 19, 1951, in Youngstown, a son of Herbert H. Sr. and Anna Elizabeth Robinson Green. He was a 1969 graduate of South High School. He also received his B.A. degree in business and a B.A. degree in theology from Youngstown State University, as well as a B.A. degree from Western Oklahoma State College. Herbert had been employed as a regional manager with U. S. Steel Corporation for over 30 years, retiring in 1994. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Altus, Oklahoma. Herbert enjoyed reading, singing, listening to music, cooking and ministering to others. His most precious time, however, was being with his family. He was an avid Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes fan.
He leaves to mourn his passing, but to celebrate his life and legacy, three children, Stacey L. Green and Donquail Mims, both of Austintown, and Tenika H. (Patrick) Hodge of San Antonio, Texas; a grandson, Terrence M. Green of New York; his sister, Mary Green; his former wife and forever friend, Brenda Oree, both of Austintown; and his extended families – the Butlers, Scotts, Jones’ and Sadlers.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lily Green, LaVerne Green, Myrtle McKeithan and Inez Booker; his brother, Wayman Robinson; and an aunt who helped to raise him, Mary Peay.
Visitation will be 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2024, at L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 10 a.m. Herbert’s final resting place will be in Belmont Park Cemetery.
