Gene V. Martof 1949-2024

He was born May 22, 1949, in Sharon, Pa., son of Ed and Rose Stypula Martof. Gene was a 1967 graduate of Brookfield High School and attended YSU.

Locally, Gene was employed at GATX and Sharon Steel. He later moved and lived in Greensboro, North Carolina, for the next 40 years. While there he was employed in shipping / receiving in the textile industry and wholesale shoe company.

Gene was an avid listener and collector of rock music. He was very knowledgeable of the many groups and artists. Gene also had a great love for the beach. He resided part time in Key West, Florida for several years and then later in life resided in the Manteo / Nags Head, North Carolina area.

He leaves his beloved granddaughter, Maisie Dube of Greensboro, North Carolina. Gene also leaves a brother, Rick Martof; and sisters, Janet Mitcheltree, Rita Gilliland, Rosemary Frazier and Nancy Clayton; and many nieces and nephews.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Ed Martof and Vicki Wilt; and daughter, Jennifer Wells.

The family would like to thank the many friends who were always at Gene’s side, especially his North Carolina family / friends Wayne, Willie, Bo and Nicole.

There will be no services.
