Urban ‘Herb’ A. Olmi 1952-2024

BOARDMAN — Urban “Herb” Anthony Olmi, 72, passed away peacefully, Monday, June 17, 2024, surrounded by his family, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital.

He was born June 6, 1952, in Youngstown, the son of the late Urban and Mary Mangin Olmi. He graduated from Rayen High School and then earned his bachelor’s degree in engineering from Youngstown State University. He worked for several places over the years and ultimately owned and operated Dinesol Plastics until his retirement.

Herb was the true definition of a family man. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren with all his heart and soul. He had an infectious voice and laugh that brought so much joy and his smile would brighten even the dimmest of days. He was a lifelong member of the Four Square Club and in his spare time, he loved to travel, whether it be to Gettysburg, the beach or across Europe with his family. Herb was a lover of classical music. He studied opera and sang tenor before making his career in engineering. He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church and then joined St. Patrick Catholic Church later in life.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 49 years, the former Becky J. Barrett, whom he married March 22, 1975; his children, Amy (William) Amendol of Boardman and Michael (Dannielle) Olmi of Poland; his grandchildren, Matthew Amendol, Owen, Carter and Lily Olmi; and his brother-in-law, Joseph Jasinski.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Donna Olmi Jasinski.

Friends will be received 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 23, 2024, at Davis-Becker Funeral Home in Boardman. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 24, 2024, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1420 Oak Hill Ave., Youngstown, OH 44507. He will be laid to rest in Brookville Cemetery in Brookville, Pa.
