Robert Wood 1975-2024

PERRYSBURG — Robert Wood, 49, passed away Tuesday evening, June 18, 2024, at his home.

He was born Jan. 7, 1975, in Youngstown, a son of David and Linda Evans Wood. He was a proud Navy veteran who also served his country with honor in the Army Reserve.

Robert’s educational journey led him to graduate from Chaney High School and later from ITT CAD drawing. His passion for service extended beyond the military; he actively participated in veteran organizations, including being a committed member of VFW Post No. 9963 in Walbridge. He was an assembler for General Motors for 16 years.

Beyond his dedication to duty, Robert had a zest for life. He enjoyed watching the Cincinnati Bengals play, spending time on the golf course, bowling and building intricate Lego creations. His “four-legged furry friends,” Quan Lei and Mai Ling, brought him immense joy.

His love for Dr. Pepper, ramen noodles, pasta and hamburgers was well-known among those who knew him.

Robert’s presence was like sunshine — illuminating every room he entered. As we bid farewell, we remember the warmth he brought to our lives and the lasting impact he leaves behind.

A good-hearted friend and a cherished brother to his three sisters, Robert also shared a close bond with his best friend, Jesse Strickland, whom he considered a brother.

Robert was preceded in death by his grandmother, Dorothy Wood. He is survived by his parents, David and Linda Wood of Hubbard; sisters, Michelle Ripple of Park City, Kentucky, Tracie (Christopher) Altiere of Canfield and Amy (Jody) Vanoverbeke of Girard; nephews, Brandon, Christian and Christopher; nieces, Veronica, Audrey and Courtney; and great-nieces, Kaylee and Nina.

Family and friends may call 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2024, at the Kelley-Cummins Funeral Home, 709 N. Main St., Hubbard, OH 44425.
