Mary Ann Sweder 1936-2024
STRUTHERS — Mary Ann Sweder, 87, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2024, after an extended illness, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Sept. 18, 1936, in Youngstown, the daughter of the late Stephen and Mary Betts Terlesky.
She was a 1954 graduate of The Rayen School and attended the Youngstown Secretarial School. Mary Ann was a member of Christ Our Savior Parish, St. Nicholas Church. She worked for Erie Lackawanna Railway from 1955 to 1968. She belonged to the League of Ukrainian Catholics and was also in a bowling league at Holiday Bowl. Mary Ann enjoyed dancing at Avon Oaks Ballroom in Girard and The Mural Room in Youngstown. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren, going to their sporting and music events, and sewing.
Mary Ann is survived by her loving spouse, Thomas Sweder, whom she married May 20, 1967; son, Jeff (Christie) Sweder; daughter-in-law, Nicole (Michael) Sweder; two brothers, Ted (Mary Lou) Terlesky and John (Linda) Terlesky; grandchildren, Ryan Sweder, Jason Sweder and Evan Sweder, sons of Jeff and Christie Sweder, and Riley Sweder, daughter of Michael Sweder.
She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Sweder; parents, Stephen and Mary Terlesky; brother, Paul Terlesky; nieces, Michelle Terlesky and Allison Terlesky, and nephew, Todd Terlesky.
Visitation will be held 10 to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at Christ Our Savior Parish, St. Nicholas Church, Struthers, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m.
Mary Ann will be laid to rest in Lake Park Cemetery in Youngstown.
